Hello there !
My name is Tom Mansion, and I’m working on a custom made instrument : The Melocussion !
The Melocussion is made from an accumulation of an electronic mess fixed on top of a melodica. A melodica is a wind instrument similar to the harmonica because it is played by blowing air through it, but with a piano keyboard on top of it !

I fell in love with this music instrument, It’s the same as a piano but better, and you can bring him everywhere ! Something was just missing : The percussions. I would love to play some drums with my melodica, everywhere I go…
And just like that, an idea was born ! I just need to fix on the melodica the hardware required to play some simple drums.
One year later, after building prototypes after prototypes, I have today in my hands something that doesn’t sound bad at all ! You can hear me in those videos I have posted on YouTube :
(I’m not to good at playing music ^^’ but the instrument is working !)
This project has me learn how music, 3D modelling, 3D printing, and how programming works. The thing is that I’m not over yet, and I’m ready to share all the new updates !
In the following posts, I will go through the conception and construction process of this new generation numerical music instrument, I will share how it was built and all the progress made. So hang on tight !
Just testing the comment system here.
If there is something in particular that you want me to show, do not hesitate !
Just… wouah !!! This instrument is just Amazing !! I love it… I am so excited to learn more about its design and evolution.
Thank your dear friend,
I know you like to play music too 🙂
You’re so talented! Keep up the good work!
And you are totally underrated.
What an incredible music instrument Tom !!!
Your instrument is amazing keep it up!
Hello Tom,
Thanks I didn’t know this instrument.
How long do you need to practice to play this song ? It seems so diffcult to play.
Bye
Sullivan
I have made the instrument myself! There is no other existing copy.
The song played is my main “home made” piece, I play it a lot. I have started improvising on it since I have started learning piano, few years ago, but I’m still not very comfortable playing it in front of a camera.
