03 – Guitares et canopée

Thanks to the Paris Saclay university, I went, 1 year ago, to a workshop at the ENS about making our own music instrument.

More information here https://www.universite-paris-saclay.fr/fabrique-ton-instrument

I was obviously very excited about this workshop because, at the time, I was already working on the Melocussion.
Here is a photo from the past:

Very first version of the very second prototype. A lot has changed since then.
Ahhh… they grow so fast

The workshop was and is still organised by Nicolas Perrin, an artist that has just like me build his own music instrument, but way better and cooler!

Just LOOK at this ! And then, go check his website : https://www.piegealoup.com/

We made, with him and all the workshop members, several shows.
Those shows where an opportunity for me to improve/test my instrument and musical skills.

I want to tell you a little bit more about the Guitares et canopée show that we did at the ENS during the explorer l’invisible event.

Event details: https://ens-paris-saclay.fr/agenda/spectacles-installations-et-debats-autour-de-explorer-linvisible
Check who’s name is on the Guitares et canopée show 😛

This event wasn’t quite a ‘small’ event. This was the inauguration of the ENS Paris Saclay building, and some fancy VIPs were present!

The huge ENS Paris Saclay, this building is no joke

So… Do you want to have an overview of our performance ? Well, here is an edited video of the show. But I warn you ! The music we make with Nicolas Perrin isn’t really ‘music’.
It’s more like an environmental sound ambiance :

Thank very much to the GAIN Scenography collective https://gain-scenography.fr/ to have filmed us and edited the video

I Hope that you enjoyed the sounds! If not, there is no problem, much love!

We played in the exterior during more than an hour at 7:30pm and at 8:30pm… in November… so it was in a very… very cold night.
But it was great! We had a lot of fun.

I’ve learned a lot during this workshop. And lucky for me (and maybe for you) the workshop is starting again next year (in 2022) !
I can’t wait to tell you more about it in my next post

So see you then!
